The company
Synergia Medical is developing an optoelectronic neuromodulation platform that replaces the metal wiring of conventional implants with optical fibres and photovoltaic cells. Its first device, NAO.VNS, is a vagus nerve stimulator for drug-resistant epilepsy, designed for MRI compatibility, immunity to electromagnetic interference and a 15-year battery life. In 2025 it met the primary safety endpoint of its first-in-human study.
Investigational device, not approved for commercial use. Information is preliminary and based on limited internal data, and does not constitute safety or performance claims or an offer to sell. This project has received funding from the European Innovation Council (EIC) under Horizon Europe.
