Het bedrijf

Synergia Medical ontwikkelt een optoelektronisch neuromodulatieplatform dat de metalen bedrading van conventionele implantaten vervangt door optische vezels en fotovoltaïsche cellen. Het eerste toestel, NAO.VNS, is een nervus-vagusstimulator voor therapieresistente epilepsie, ontworpen voor MRI-compatibiliteit, immuniteit tegen elektromagnetische interferentie en een batterijduur van 15 jaar. In 2025 behaalde het het primaire veiligheidseindpunt van zijn eerste studie bij mensen.

Experimenteel hulpmiddel, niet goedgekeurd voor commercieel gebruik. De informatie is voorlopig en gebaseerd op beperkte interne data, en vormt geen veiligheids- of prestatieclaims, noch een aanbod tot verkoop. Dit project heeft financiering ontvangen van de Europese Innovatieraad (EIC) in het kader van Horizon Europe.
